The Ten Commandments – Die Zehn Gebote (GERMAN-DEUTSCH: Naftali Herz Tur-Sinai Bibel, OT 1934)

GERMAN-DEUTSCH: Naftali Herz Tur-Sinai Bibel, OT 1934

Exodus (2 Mose) 20:3-17

5 Du sollst dich vor ihnen nicht niederwerfen und ihnen nicht dienen, denn ich, der Ewige, dein Gott, bin ein eifernder Gott, der da bedenkt die Schuld der Väter an den Kindern am dritten und vierten Geschlecht, bei denen, die mich hassen;

9 Sechs Tage sollst du arbeiten und all dein Werk verrichten;

Psalms 23

1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

2 In pastures of tender grass he causeth me to lie down: beside still waters he leadeth me.

3 My soul he refresheth: he guideth me in the tracks of righteousness for the sake of his name.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will not fear evil; for thou art with me: thy rod and thy staff—they indeed comfort me.

5 Thou preparest before me a table in the presence of my assailants; thou anointest with oil my head: my cup overfloweth.

6 Surely, only goodness and kindness shall follow me all the days of my life: and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord to the utmost length of days.

Exodus 20:3-17

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thyself any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow thyself down to them, nor serve them; for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And showing mercy unto the thousandth generation of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8 Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work.

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath in honor of the Lord thy God; on it thou shalt not do any work, neither thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates;

11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 Honor thy father and thy mother; in order that thy days may be prolonged upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

13 Thou shalt not kill.

14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 Thou shalt not steal.

16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor’s.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.

15 And all the people perceived the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the voice of the horn, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled, and stood afar off.

16 And they said unto Moses: ‘Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.’

17 And Moses said unto the people: ‘Fear not; for God is come to prove you, and that His fear may be before you, that ye sin not.’

Exodus 20:3-17

3 You shall have no other gods beside Me.

4 You shall not make for yourself an idol, nor likeness of anything, whatever things are in the heaven above, and whatever are in the earth beneath, and whatever are in the waters under the earth.

5 You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I am the Lord your God, a jealous God, recompensing the sins of the fathers upon the children, to the third and fourth generation to them that hate Me,
